When it comes to mobile phones, battery longevity is what we’re talking about and with ever better technology in the area of Lithium Ion Batteries, it keeps getting better. Mobile phones used to be power guzzlers but as better batteries have been developed, they have managed to last longer keeping us tapping away for a day or two, even a week on standby mode.
Better electronics, mainly the processors have also played a big part for better power management allows longer use time and more computing power than ever before. Today’s mobile phones operate like portable computers allowing us to connect to web, and do so much more. Take the iPhone from Apple instead, the first generation had a comparatively short battery life that prevented many form buying it(but still, die hard fans stood in line for hours just to get one). The introduction of polymer batteries allowed slimmer batteries yet more power storage per square inch. They do have a nasty quality of blowing up…. More power to you guys…… Bars I mean….

Almost all developers are racing to capture a piece of the pie that makes up the very rapidly growing mobile market, for with the release of the first tablet PC’s and more powerful mobile phones it truly is a fast paced race. Most have already have stable foundation into the market and are continuing to improve their products, Microsoft, Adobe among many companies trying to rule the market are all trying to take what they have for the previously dominant desktop to the mobile market.
And with mobile technology allowing for more and more powerful computers, mobile phones and tablets, it seems the battle rages on. Soon, everything around us would be wired(or un-wired) to the internet in a form or another that we can do almost anything.
The rise of Bluetooth technology: An increased risk for phone security?
Bluetooth technology has been proven helpful to the people of all ages—business-minded folks were now able to acquire (for a cheap price!) and use Bluetooth headsets, teenagers have been able to share and download files from each other’s phones and so on and so forth. But what has been so daunting about this new technology is that, the “bad guys” now have step up to a new height as they have now the capability to send different kinds of viruses to other phones through Bluetooth. Since phones are running on operating systems, they are prone to virus infection (just like desktop computers and the like). Most carriers warn their subscribers to turn off their Bluetooth at all times if not in use. Probably, this is what you pay for technology, eh?

Schools give free cellphones – air time that is

This idea comes from a Harvard economist. But Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein put the idea into action as the “Million” Motivation Campaign. This program gives free cellphone air time to high-performing students. It’s like a motivating thing for the kids to continue doing well in academics. About 2,500 students in seven middle schools are already involved. Free “minutes” and other rewards are expected if these kids achieve the academic goals set by their respective principals.
Hmm… would I have seen this as an incentive when I was a teen? Nah… I hated (and still do) phone conversations. But if they were talking about free movie passes or book coupons… oh geez!
I’m a geek… I know!

Modu, an alternative for having a gadget that works as a mobile phone, PDA and music player. If you insert the Modu into a suitable device, it does its work.
It becomes a cell-phone connected email reader, if you slip it into a camera, you’ll be able to upload pictures anywhere. Put it into your car and you’ll be connected to a cellular network. You can also slip it into your laptop, then it can connect to the Internet via cell towers. And another good thing is, this concept allows to add cell phone connectivity to any other device.
Why People Rent Textbooks

With the recent recession that has hit everybody in the world, the need for thrift has never been this high. Economies are stumbling and most companies are looking to lay people off to make up their losses. Either way, it is a lose-lose situation for anybody caught in the cross fire. Thus, the best way to soften the blow of this economic recession is to look for more efficient ways of spending your hard earned cash.
This is especially true for the middle and lower class families who make up the bulk of the population in this world. Now, since education is a vital component in the development of our world, there has to be a way to acquire the necessary reading material without having to pay an arm and a leg. The best way to do this is to rent textbooks.
Fortunately, many people have warmed up to this idea and rent their text books for semesters at a time at extremely reasonable rates. From the side of the book owner, he or she can slowly collect on their investment. From the side of the renter, he or she saves up greatly on a book that will only be used for just a semester.
At the end of the day, whoever came up with the idea to rent textbooks deserves the gratitude of the millions of people working their way through the educational systems of today. It has become a huge help towards people striving to make ends meet and get a better education at the same time. So, to all those who are aware, it would go a long way to support this system of text book rental.

Holy cow! I used to think it was only possible as an animated program, but I guess I’m underestimating the power of technology (and the Japanese one that is). Anyway, Softbank and TV Tokyo have introduced the Toshiba made SoftBank 815T PB mobile phone. This “robot” phone can transform into a robot figure, as you can see in the figure.
Specs of the SoftBank 815T PB:
50 × 102 × 16mm dimensions
2.4 inch QVGA screen
2MP camera
.3MP secondary camera
music player
IrDA
microSD card slot.

Dallas city school zones ban cellphones

If you’re in Dallas or visiting Dallas for a while, and if you plan to pass through a school zone (for whatever reason) you’d better start refraining yourself from using your mobile while driving– unless you’d rather want to divest yourself of 200 bucks. Apparently, that’s the new city law. Before, there were only seven school zones where the ban was effective but now, they’ve added about 230 more. The city just passed that ordinance today, following others. How serious is the city? About
$145,000 sure. That’s the amount they are using to install signage to alert drivers to the changes.
